An Airbnb guest in the US has been charged with sexual assault after the homeowner found the visitor naked in bed with the host's seven-year-old daughter.
Derrick Aaron Kinchen, 28, rented a room in a family's home in Minnesota to attend a wedding at the weekend.
After the guest returned to the property late Sunday night he entered the parents' bedroom, where the little girl was sleeping, and climbed into the bed with her, the host told police.
He notified authorities on Sunday night to report Kinchen allegedly tried to sexually assault his little girl while staying at the property, local TV news KARE reported.
The unidentified host said he noticed the lights were on in the main bedroom late at night, so he went to check on the child.
He found Kinchen naked next to his daughter, whose nightgown had been allegedly pulled up, and began yelling at him, the New York Daily News reported.
The host told police Kinchen then grabbed his suit jacket and wallet, and ran from the house.
Kinchen was hospitalised for the bite, while the man's daughter was taken to a local children's hospital for an evaluation.
Investigators reported the youngster was sleeping when Kinchen entered her parents' bedroom.
She told police the man allegedly whispered something to her, which woke her up, before climbing into the bed with her.
The criminal complaint document states Kinchen pulled the little girl's underwear down, before she pulled them back up, KARE reported.
Airbnb spokesman Benjamin Breit told the Daily News all guest and hosts in the US are screened "globally against regulatory, terrorist, and sanctions watch lists," are also checked for sex offender registrations and criminal history.
"The reported abhorrent behavior has no place on Airbnb and we will not tolerate it," Mr Breit said.
"We are focused on providing our host family with our full support, we are working with the local police to ensure they have our assistance and we banned this user from our community."
"Keeping our community safe is the most important thing we do. None of our hosts should ever have to deal with anything like this."
Kinchen was charged with criminal sexual assault and remains in custody on a $319,000 bail.
