Mystery over law student found dead with 'bag of ecstasy in her stomach'

A young law student partying in Ibiza is believed to have died from a bag of ecstasy exploding in her stomach, an inquest has heard.
Rebecca Brock, 18, was found dead in a pool of blood in a Hotel Marco Polo room on the Spanish resort island of Ibiza on September 28 last year after she travelled to the island for a friend's birthday.
Spanish police found the amount of ecstasy in her stomach to be "double the level" of a normal fatal dose.
Nottingham Coroners' Court in the UK on Monday heard how the girl's mother, Margarita Brock, believes her daughter may have been forced to swallow the bag of ecstasy as a drug mule.

She also told how Rebecca had spoken openly about experimenting with cocaine in the past, but doesn't believe she would take such a large amount of ecstasy.
"She tried cocaine with people she knew and people around her she knew," Ms Brock said as she fought back tears.
"She said to her sister afterwards that she didn't like it, so she didn't have to worry.
"She wouldn't take any pills easily - I can't imagine that getting in her body at all. If she didn't have to take a pill she wouldn't do because she couldn't swallow it. I can't see any other way than someone making that happen."
Coroner Mairin Casey said that "we will never know" how the drugs ended up in the "gifted" student's system.

The court also heard how Rebecca suffered from body image issues which, according to Ms Brock, "she was less keen to talk about".
Rebecca had lost a signifcant amount of weight in 2015.

Ms Casey said Rebecca had "established friendships in short periods of time", "had a close relationship with her family", and "had parties at her house where friends would come and go".
"She was an independent young woman, she was only 18 when she went to study abroad," Ms Casey said.
"She was a very gifted young woman - academically gifted. She didn't seem to struggle with exams and school work."
In July 2015 Rebecca had gone to Ibiza and she went again in August meaning September was the third trip, the court heard.

Ms Casey said on this particular trip, it was her "understanding" that no one saw "Becky takes drugs at the time".
"How these bags were in her stomach we will never know," she said.
"What is plain is that nobody can give an explanation as to how this came into her system."
Toxicologist Dr Stephen Morley said Spanish authorities found that Becky had died about 48 hours before she was found in her room.
He said traces of alcohol and a "potentially fatal concentration" of ecstasy were found in her body.
"There is certainly evidence of a broken bag," he said.
